Earlier this week, Medway Conservatives Armed Forces Champion Councillor Doe attended the Merchant Navy Flag raising at Gun Wharf.
On the 3rd September 1939, the first day of WW2, SS Athenia was the first merchant ship to be torpedoed and sunk with the terrible loss of 128 passengers and crew.
It was pleasing to be joined by representatives from Royal Naval Command, the local Royal Naval Association and a local veterans group to hear more about what Medway Council could be doing to further support our veteran community.
