On 4 June 2026 Cllr Perfect, Leader of the Opposition, has attended the Local Government Association (LGA) Councillors’ Forum, joining elected representatives from across the country to discuss the key challenges and opportunities facing local government.
The forum brought together councillors from a wide range of authorities to share best practice and explore solutions to local issues affecting our communities. This meeting saw Sir James Cleverly MP, Shadow MHCLG Secretary of State as a main speaker and featured discussions on Civility in Public Life.
Speaking following the event, the Leader of the Opposition said:
“It was a good opportunity to meet with colleagues on a cross-party basis, and engage on issues important to local government, from local government reorganisation to adult’s social care.
The Shadow Secretary of State offered clear views from HM Opposition on the future of local government, and the development of the Conservative Party policy framework in the months ahead.”
The event provided an opportunity to engage directly with sector leaders, policy experts and Government ministers to ensure Medway’s voice is heard in important discussions about the future of Local government.
