The Medway Conservative Group has announced the appointment of Cllr Trevor Clarke as its new Shadow Cabinet Member for Place and Opposition Spokesperson for the Regeneration, Culture and Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee, strengthening the opposition team as it continues to hold the Labour administration to account and champion the interests of residents across Medway.
Cllr Clarke brings significant experience in local government and a deep understanding of the issues affecting communities across Medway. In his new role, he will lead the Conservative Group's scrutiny of policies relating to regeneration, housing, economic development, transport, town centres, environmental services and the wider growth agenda.
Leader of the Opposition, Cllr George Perfect, said:
"I am delighted to appoint Trevor as our Shadow Cabinet Member for Place. He brings a wealth of experience, sound judgement and a strong commitment to delivering the best outcomes for Medway residents.
"The decisions being made on regeneration, housing and infrastructure will shape Medway for generations to come. Trevor will play a vital role in ensuring these decisions are properly scrutinised and that the voices of local communities are heard."
Commenting on his appointment, Cllr Trevor Clarke said:
"It is an honour to take on the role of Shadow Cabinet Member for Place. Medway is a fantastic place to live, work and invest, but we face significant ongoing challenges under the current Labour administration.
"I look forward to working with colleagues, residents, businesses and community groups alike to campaign for Medway's growth to be sustainable, our town centres to be supported, and our residents to get the services and infrastructure they deserve.
"The Conservative Group will continue to provide constructive challenge to the administration whilst putting forward practical solutions that improve the quality of life for residents across Medway."
The appointment forms part of the Medway Conservative Group's ongoing work to provide effective opposition, develop policy proposals and ensure local decision-making remains focused on the priorities of residents and businesses across the area.
