On Sunday 15th June the annual dedication service for the Mayor and Councillors took place at Rochester Cathedral, led by the Dean of Rochester The Very Rev'd Dr Phil Hesketh. The service saw the Mayor placed in his seat in the quire of the cathedral, along with a range of readings from both the new and old testament. The service was preceded by a parade through Rochester with the Deputy Lieutenant Brigadier Peter Gilbert, and Chief Inspector Garry Cooke, along with the Leader of the Council and Leader of the Opposition. The service marked the beginning of the civic year, which sees Cllr Trevor Clarke as The Worshipful Mayor of Medway and Cllr Wayne Spring as The Deputy Mayor of Mayor.
Speaking after the event the Leader of the Opposition Cllr Perfect said:
"It was brilliant to see the service well attended and enjoyed, my thanks go to the Cathedral and the council's own civic officers for putting on a successful day.
I look forward to joining the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor throughout the rest of the year at civic events."
