On Saturday 24th May, the Leader of the Opposition Cllr Perfect, Senior Shadow Cabinet Member Cllr Tejan and the Mayor of Medway Cllr Clarke, attended the opening of the splash pad and new tennis courts at The Strand.
The new courts have been fully refurbished to ensure the courts can be enjoyed by families and players of all abilities. The project is part of a large investment by HM Government and the LTA Tennis Foundation, to renovate eight courts at the Strand and at the Maidstone Road Sports Ground in Chatham. The new splash pad, funded through section 106 developer contributions, has been designed and built by specialist contractors and has water jets for young people to enjoy and play.
Speaking after the day, Cllr Perfect said:
It was great to attend the opening of the new tennis courts and the Splash Pad in Gillingham. The Strand is a wonderful location for families to relax and enjoy, and I look forward to seeing children and young people enjoying the facilities in the months and years ahead.
