Residents in Rainham are being invited to take part in a public consultation on the future of local pharmaceutical services, as part of Medway Council’s draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA).
Councils are required by government to produce a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment every three years. This document reviews current pharmacy services and helps identify any gaps or areas for improvement in the future.
Following engagement with pharmacists and members of the public, a draft version of Medway’s PNA has been published – and the Council now want to hear from more local residents.
A ward surgery held today in Rainham gave councillors the chance to speak directly with residents about their experiences accessing pharmacy services. With only a limited number of pharmacies now operating in Rainham town centre, it’s more important than ever that local voices are heard.
Cllr Kwashie Anang, Councillor for Rainham North and Member of the Medway Council Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee, said:
“Pharmacies play a crucial role in the community, offering not just prescriptions but expert advice and support for everyday health concerns. With fewer pharmacies now available in the town centre, it’s essential we understand the impact this is having on residents.
I encourage everyone in Rainham to take part in the consultation and help shape the future of these vital services.”
