Following the news of Cllr Lammas leaving the Conservative Party, Cllr George Perfect, Medway Conservatives Leader, said:
“We are disappointed that Cllr Lammas has taken the decision this week to leave the Conservative Party.
Cllr Lammas was, of course, part of the last Rishi Sunak government as a special adviser and was part of the campaign to elect Boris Johnson as our Party Leader. He should reflect on his own part in the mistakes of the previous government. Nationally, Kemi Badenoch has been clear that the Conservative Party is under new leadership and locally, under my leadership, we are an effective opposition holding Labour to account.
This week at Conference our party has outlined a positive vision for the future of the United Kingdom, including just yesterday where we set out a positive vision for the economy - whilst highlighting the dangerous consequences of Reform UK's economic policies.
Instead of focusing on ourselves, we are focused on holding Labour to account and providing a strong, credible and effective alternative to the Labour and Co-Operative council in Medway.”
