Jan has lived in the area since 1976 and is married with two sons and four grandchildren. Living in the area she knows the locality, local history and lots of its residents well.

Jan was first elected to represent Rainham Central in 2016 and is involved with many groups within the ward such as the WI, WIGMARA, Community through Church. She runs a Knit and Natter group bringing local people for friendship whilst producing wonderful items for the baby unit and Medway Hospital and children round the world, whilst at the same time combatting social isolation and loneliness.

She has recently been campaigning for a road crossing in Woodside, as a result of concerns raised by local schools parents and elderly residents.
