Councillor Jim Gilbourne has been a dedicated representative of Hempstead & Wigmore since May 2023. As a Conservative councillor, he plays an active role in Medway’s governance, serving on several key committees, including the Children and Young People Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Planning Committee, and Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Beyond his council duties, Jim is involved in broader governance initiatives, including the Informal Working Party on Polling Districts and Polling Places, the Maidstone Borough Council Lidsing Stakeholder Steering Group, and the Young Medway Community Interest Organisation.

Jim is committed to ensuring that Medway’s planning policies support sustainable development while protecting the interests of local residents. His work in children’s services reflects his dedication to improving opportunities for young people across Medway.

With a strong commitment to public service, Councillor Gilbourne continues to work towards enhancing Medway’s planning, healthcare, and education systems.

Councillor Gilbourne leads local campaign to keep local pub open

Last orders were called at the Flying Saucer in Gillingham on the 8th June, when at the last minute, Greene King decided not to renew their lease. Local residents Beverly Weir and Councillor Jim Gilbourne have led a campaign to save the pub from possible redevelopment ever since.
