About Us

Welcome to the Medway Conservative Group website, where you will be able to keep up with our local news, events and campaigns, and also get in contact with us.

We are a Group of 33 Councillors, spread across three Conservative associations: Rochester & Strood, Gillingham & Rainham, and Chatham & Aylesford. As Leader of our Group, I am delighted to say that the Conservatives have an excellent track record of delivering high quality services for the people who live and work here in Medway. The Conservatives formed the administration of Medway Council in 2000, and under our leadership Medway has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Under Conservative leadership, Medway Council retains the lowest Council Tax in Kent, and this guarantee of value for money echoes throughout the Group’s pledge to continue to balance the books whilst providing outstanding services.

The Conservative Group are committed to local growth, and one of the key ways in which we are achieving this is through our drive to put Medway on the map. This is crucial in bringing more investment into Medway and generating increased wealth for the benefit of all.

Increased investment opportunities, further inspired by our plans for Medway’s new innovation hubs and the important Enterprise Zone at Rochester Airport, are allowing local businesses to flourish by making Medway an even more attractive place for businesses to put down roots.

Our regeneration programmes are ensuring Medway remains a place to be proud of: known for its rejuvenated city centres, coupled with a unique heritage. Regeneration is a key component of the Conservative vision for Medway as a thriving 21st century waterfront university city.

As well as catering for our residents, we ensure that we are attracting more visitors by continuing to provide award-winning country parks, as well as offering a diverse and exciting festivals programme.

The Conservative Group continues to provide our Medway community with important opportunities to work and learn. Our adult learning centres, libraries, and community hubs all combine to ensure that the resources to provide the skills needed by our residents are in place.

Working hand-in-hand with the Universities at Medway, the future is also promising for the next generation of Medway residents, who are reaping the benefits of our ‘getting to good’ initiative and the outstanding improvements in Medway schools’ Ofsted ratings.

For the future, I am excited to be leading a Conservative Group that is forward-looking and is highly ambitious for Medway the place, and its people. Our imaginative and varied plans for Medway will create a city for the future that will meet the varied aspirations of the people that live, work, learn and visit.
