Councillor Mark Joy: Advocate for Children's Services and Education

Councillor Mark Joy has been a dedicated representative of Rainham South West since May 2023. His political career spans multiple roles, having previously served as a councillor for Strood South from 2016 to 2019. He is our Shadow Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Education.

Mark has played an active role in Medway’s governance, serving on several key committees, including the Children and Young People Overview and Scrutiny Committee, where he is the Opposition Spokesperson. His commitment to education and youth services has been a defining aspect of his work, ensuring that Medway’s children receive the best possible support and opportunities.

Beyond his council duties, Mark has been involved in broader governance initiatives, including the Adoption Panel, Corporate Parenting Board, and Medway Admissions Forum, demonstrating his dedication to safeguarding and improving services for young people.

With a strong track record in local government, Councillor Joy continues to work towards enhancing Medway’s education system, supporting families, and advocating for the needs of children and young people.
