Councillor Gary Etheridge has been a dedicated representative of Strood Rural since May 2015.

Gary has played a significant role in Medway’s governance, serving on multiple committees, including the Planning Committee, where he was the Opposition Spokesperson from 2023 to 2024. He has also contributed to the Regeneration, Culture and Environment Overview and Scrutiny Committee, where he previously served as Chair from 2018 to 2023.

Beyond his council duties, Gary has been actively involved in community initiatives, serving on the Conservative spokesperson on the Rural Liaison Board, Lower Medway Internal Drainage Board, and North Kent Marshes Drainage Board. His commitment to rural and environmental issues has made him a key figure in shaping Medway’s policies for sustainable development.

With a strong track record in local government, Councillor Etheridge continues to work towards improving Medway’s planning, regeneration, and community engagement.
