The Medway Conservatives are concerned by news that 40 jobs are to be lost at the University of Kent, at Chatham. The University of Kent is a key strategic partner of Medway Council, and its success has contributed to the thriving student scene that has been seen in Chatham over recent years.

Last week James Cleverly MP visited Medway twice (24th and 26th January) and met with local MP Kelly Tolhurst and Matthew Scott to see the success that has been delivered by Kent PCC Matthew Scott and Kent Police.

Medway Conservatives were delighted that the Minister for Roads and Local Transport Guy Opperman MP visited Medway.

The Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Councillor Turpin, and Member of Parliament for Rochester and Strood, Rt Hon Kelly Tolhurst MP, were delighted to welcome The Rt Hon Steve Barclay MP, Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to Medway this weekend.

Last evening Councillor Turpin, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, and Councillor Perfect, Opposition Spokesperson for Children, Young People and Education, attended the “Time to Shine Awards” for children in care and care experienced young adults.
